An Okinanwan Wedding

I had the chance of attending a traditional Okinawan wedding a few years ago. While attending the wedding, I was completely lost as to what was happening around me. Even though I did have a few people that would fill me in on what was going on, I was still lost. It was not until must later that I researched on the ceremony that I finally understood what everything meant. Although some parts seemed strange, I thought it was a great wedding ceremony to learn about and share.

The bride then changes to a red Japanese kimono. In this picture, the couple is offering a toast to those attending the wedding

Cousins of the bride are performing a dance of happiness before the ceremony begins

The lower material of the groom’s kimono is then changed into white

Relatives from the groom’s side perform an Okinawan dance which resembles karate

Niece and nephews from the bride’s side then perform a more modern dance while the mothers hold a banner congratulating the new couple.

Okinawa Eisa Dance is then performed by friends and family from the groom’s side. At this time, the attendees are encouraged to participate.

The couple is now re-introduced in western style wedding attire.

The couple cuts the cake.

The couple then changes into comfortable, dance appropriate outfits.

While the lights are dimmed, the couple pour everything from separate decanters into a large cup which symbolizes “everything together” for the rest of their lives.

The couple then closes the ceremony by promising to forever love and be faithful to one another. The rest of the evening is left for dancing.

I love makeup transformation especially when it is from one extreme to the other. I watch RuPaul’s Drag Race where men are obligated to transform, with the help of makeup, into a character each week. What is so fascinating is when the transformation is executed excellently.

Those who bleach their skin are believed to have low self-esteem and wish to fit into a western standard of beauty. Skin bleaching has been considered cancerous and extremely unhealthy. While skin bleaching, sun exposure and use of perfume and dyes has to be limited due to never effects it will have on an individual. Bleaching creams can be purchased online, at local stores and even created in the privacy of your home.

Extreme Plastic Surgery of the Week

I am sure each and every one of us has one thing or another that they would love to get rid of or change. Fortunately for the rich and famous, a nose job is similar to a manicure and pedicure special at the nail salon.  

Heidi Montag, a reality show actress, fell under the pressure of Hollywood to look a certain type of way. At the age of 23, she underwent over 10 cosmetic surgeries. I am currently 23 and I could not possibly go through that large amount of surgeries for the sake of feeling and "looking" beautiful. Maybe when I am 45!

“I was definitely way in over my head. I’m glad it worked out and you can’t really reverse time,” she said of her decision to undergo numerous procedures. “I kind of wanted a few enhancements and then it kind of got out of hand. I wasn’t told really the repercussions and what would happen, emotionally and psychically and the pain I would be in. I was kind of in shock.”

Be Beautiful

I seem to always have this discussion with someone about how beautiful people make more money that average looking people. (BTW tall people also make more money than short people) Nevertheless, what may be considered beautiful to one people could be the opposite for another. Can all women universally agree that Brad Pitt is beautiful? Probably or probably not! The subject of this post is to point out some great facts about beautiful people. And for those of us who do not feel as beautiful, I am sure you will find something that will apply to you.  

• The left side of your face is always your good side. Not unless you have a hideous slash on it. Other than that, you will be ready for the instagram paparazzi.

• Beautiful people are happier. If you feel beautiful on the inside, it will illuminate on the outside.

• Attractive people have higher IQs. I don't know, I find this really hard to believe. Maybe it is beautiful I know a lot more unintelligent, attractive people.

• Women find men less attractive when they smile. Men find women more attractive when they smile. If you smile, you start to give off the serial killer look. 

• Beauty never last. How you treat people is what makes you memorable. Okay, so this last bullet point is my personal add to everything. 

 Random Fact: "According to researchers at the University of Toronto, the perfect female face has a distance between the pupil of 46 percent of the entire face, and a distance between the eyes and the mouth that is 36 percent of the distance from the hairline to the chin. " Go ahead and take a measuring tape. I dare you!

Indian Girl Marries Dog

Just the headline alone is grounds to question what the world has come to. Researching this story, I found out some very interesting information even though it still did not condone why a young girl had to marry a dog.

In the superstitious town of Jharkland, a young girl is forced to marry a dog to rid of evil spirits. 

The girl who comes from a poverty stricken home, was to marry to dog so that the family can experience wealth.

The extent of what she is to do with her husband/dog is left to the imagination
